Set up a 7 Day Trial?

Hello,

I have seen a lot of my competitor's sites who use a '7 Day Trial' to get new customers. They will pay $4.95 today, and then seven days later they will be automatically charged $39.95 (or however much the product is). Is this possible with Plimus?

If so, how can I do it?

Thanks.

This can be done, the question is if you would like there to be ongoing payments for the product after the 2nd charge and if the payment frequency is to be the same (weekly).

Max, Thank you for your

Max,

Thank you for your reply. No, I would not like it to be an ongoing payment. Just the initial $4.95 for the first day, and then a one-time charge for $39.95 seven days later. So a total of $44.90. No recurring payments after that.

Is this possible? If so, can you guide me in the right direction?

Thanks.

How to set it up

To do what you require, you need to take the following steps:

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1. create a recurring product
2. create a new recurring contract
3. go to the "general" section of the contract-id.
4. set $4.95 in the "Initial Price" field and $39.95 in the "Recurring Price" field
5. set the "Payment Frequency" dropdown menu to weekly.
6. check the "Advance Payment (for recurring payments/Subscriptions)" checkbox.
7. enter 1 in the "Max Number of Payments"
8. edit the email in the "order email" section of the contract-id so the customer is aware that after 7 days they will be charged $39.95 if they don't cancel their 'subscription'.

pls help

Hi

Max.

I tested your suggestion but something was wrong, cause when I tested the email with dowload link didn't received.

Please tell me how to:

1. Give a 7 day trial with 0$ fee and after 7 days to be charged 49$.

and

2. Give 7 day trial with 0$ fee and after 7 day to be a charged of 25$ and after a month an another charge of 25$.

Thank you.

Free Period set up

Try this to give an initial free period.

1. Select authorize only
2. add manually to the buynow url the following buynow parameter:
&AuthorizeOnly=Y

The effect will be that the initial charge is authorized only and then the billing will start on the next payment date.

So you can go 7 days prior to the first payment. Then you are on a 7 day cycle.

As Max indicated you cannot go 7 days then run a different payment schedule such as monthly.

Hope this makes sense. Maybe have a look at the BuyNow parameters tutorial in the Learning Center if you are not sure about adding the above code to the end of your BuyNow url.

Have a good weekend,

I'd like to do something

I'd like to do something similar, but with a recurring monthly payment. In other words:

1. The customer pays an initial $1 or $4.95 for a 7-day or 14-day trial.

2. After 7 days or 14 days, the customer is automatically billed $19.95, $27.00 or whatever.

3. 30 days later (and every 30 days for a fixed term or indefinitely) the customer is billed the same amount.

I didn't see any way to do this using Plimus - I could bill on a 14-day cycle, but I'd rather not do that.

currently not possible

The specific subscription scheme that you require is currently not possible, as only one payment frequency can be selected in the "general" section of contract-id.

You could do what you require via the "on demand" payment frequency, but this would not be automatic, and would require you to manually charge your customers at each payment cycle.

You could also create 3 recurring subscriptions. One contract-id would be set to "weekly" payment frequency, the 2nd contract-id would be set to "bi-weekly" payment frequency. The remaining contract-id would be set to "monthly" payment frequency. Once your customer orders either the 7day or 14day trial, you can manually switch them over to the monthly (the 3rd contract-id) at the end of the trial period via the order locator in your account, which would then continuously charge them each month for the fixed rate. If you would like to use this option, you would need to make sure that all the contract-ids are created in the same product-id.

Cant get it working

I followed exact instructions and I just got a sale and user paid using paypal and now in order details page, I cant find anything to move the customer to another contract.

I think it is only possible to move the user to another contract if the user paid using credit card? or Do I need to use "onDemand" as payment frequency in 1st contract?

Please help, Thanks

I used below settings:

1. 1st contract with 1.97 as initial and 1.97 as recurring charge - frequency daily.

2. 2nd contract with 19 as initial and 19 as recurring charge - frequency monthly.

Now customer purchased 1st contract using paypal and I cant find any option to switch him to 2nd contract.

Customers that pay using

Customers that pay using PayPal can not be switched to different contracts, therefore the settings that I previously mentioned would only work for customers paying via Credit Card.
