Live Assistance - Has anyone got this to work?
I've downloaded the application setup from http://home.plimus.com/live_assistance.shtml, how odd, now I look at that page again there is no download link!!!!
Uurgh, anyway, I run setup.exe (the exe file is unsigned - Plimus really should code sign stuff like this), it opens a blank window in my web browser with a dialog box:
"Opening Live Assistance Operator.Application
.... Would you like to save this file? Er, well, ok.
This creates a file "Live Assistance Operator.application", an application manifest. ?
Double-clicking this brings up a box "Verifying Application Requirements", then "Cannot download the application".
This means nothing to me (Oh Vienna) and I've been writing software for over 30 years. What do I do now? What do I do now? What do I do now?

ah, having read all the

ah, having read all the online documentation I realise that this is an application for IE, so I, obviously, open http://la.plimus.com/plimus/la/ in IE, hooray, up comes the application, I enter my user name and password, error "Object reference not set to an instance of an object".
Now, any chance of writing this application for a proper web browser or even just a standalone application? I don't want to risk using IE actively online.

And this is with IE versions 6 and 8.

and putting the

and putting the <#LIVE_ASSISTANCE#> tag in my buy now template just displays the text "-99". What is going on?

Assistance

Hi there,

Thanks for this post. I will have our tech folks run some checks.

Please let us have details of the relevant browser version and OS you are using.

Thanks,

Derek, Plimus

Browsers and OS

I have XPHome, XPPro and Windows 7.
Browsers: Firefox, Opera, Chrome, Safari and IE (6 or 8) if I really have to (but I really rather not). Besides, it's the browser my customers have that is important.

I am having our engineers checking this issue.

Situation Update

You have a great sense of humor -- and thankfully a fair amount of patience!!

So after hitchhiking around the office to get an answer from our engineering team, I can confirm that the problem is technical, and that the feature it is not operational at the moment.

They are aiming to have this service fully restored by the end of May, but should further problems be encountered we may be compelled to replace or drop this functionality.

Apologies for the inconvenience that this may have caused you.

Derek, Plimus
