Important System Updates - June 8th Release

Plimus has been working hard to continue to evolve the platform to meet your needs and help you to grow your revenues. Today's product release includes a slate of brand new features, capabilities and interfaces available to you through the Control Panel.

Control Panel Home Page Updates

A new link to the Learning Center will now appear in the top right menu bar. The Learning Center contains instructions on how to use the system and is periodically updated with new pieces of information, including tips and tricks as well as documentation of new features.

Above My Products, a new table reflecting the current status of your account has been added. Information displayed will include the date of the last payment sent, your account balance (based on net estimated income), sales data, and alerts such as affiliate requests and disputes.

My Products is now paginated, which will make the page quicker to load and easier to use.

Multi-Currency Subscriptions

There is no longer a separate settings page for recurring contracts. Those settings now appear under the general Contract Settings page.

You will now be able to set a subscription with a different price in currencies other than USD, both for the initial and recurring payments. This will allow your customer to pay the same amount every time in their preferred currency.

Ability To Regenerate Licenses

From a customer's Order Page you will now be able to regenerate a product license. This will be very useful in cases where a product license is for some reason not created at the time the purchase takes place; or where a verified customer simply needs a replacement.

Also, the interface has been updated to improve usability, eliminating a number of the buttons in favor of drop-downs and links - you're going to like this update if you spend any time at all managing orders!

New UI Widgets To Improve Usability

As part of our continued execution of our core product roadmap, we are starting to add a number of more advanced visual elements.

The first one you will see is the upgraded Date-Picker in the Reports section. The widget, which is a drop-down calendar menu, makes it quick and easy to select a date.

In the Promotions section under Contracts, you will now be able to quickly search and browse your contracts with the new Contract Locator drop-down menu. Also, a type-ahead feature has been introduced which will check your contract catalog and make suggestions as you type. This is the one you should check out, as this gives you a clear indication of the direction Plimus is moving to deliver a great, modern user experience.

Administrative User Verification

If you have multiple non-Admin users who are able to log into your Plimus account, those users will now be able to have their new password request verification code mailed directly to them instead of to the Admin account. This will make it easier and quicker for your users to manage their accounts.

Allowing Daily PayPal Subscriptions

A persistent request over the last few months has been to allow daily subscriptions that may be charged through PayPal subscriptions. This will now be possible. Also, as noted above, remember that the Subscription Settings will now be accessible in the General Contract Settings page.

"Additional Charges" Page Enhancements

From the Additional Charges page you will be able to create a new category. Then, you will be able to create a new charge.

Within the new charge, you can provide a name (or add HTML) that will appear on screen and override the name.

You will be able to set a value in dollar amount or percentage, quantity type (one per item, one per line item, etc...), and whether or not to display the price.

You can also assign an additional separate e-mail message that can be sent to customers who purchase a contract with the additional charge. They will receive an e-mail for the overall order and another for the specific additional charge.

Other options include displaying the additional charge as Zero-priced if it is something you are adding for free.

You can also define if the additional charge will cause Physical Delivery of the entire order due to VAT rules in Europe.

Just wanted to update, that due to these requests, we now enable selection of the numbers of products displayed per page.
Basically we added the paging feature, since many vendors with more than 50 products requested to limit the number of products loaded when logging in.
 
In addition we brought back a total columns for sales and added the total number of customers)
 
This fix will be deployed on the 6th of July. see image below...

Home Page Updates

Hello, as a vendor for 5 years with Plimus, I agree with the other comment regarding home page changes. I'm guessing many more vendors agree but don't have the time to create a community account just so they can express their grief regarding this change like I did.

Plimus shouldn't fix something that wasn't broken. It's not that the new home page changes look bad- it's that they are missing VERY critical information.

For five years I have logged into Plimus almost daily. The most important items I login for are not even on the home page anymore. Lifetime product totals and lifetime grand total. These totals are now nowhere to be found unless you want to spend lots of time compiling reports and editing in Excel to find the totals.

The "pagination" of the home page is nothing more than an excuse to be able to take those numbers down. Plimus doesn't want vendors knowing their totals because they can use that as leverage when Plimus ignores vendors emails regarding important business issues like they have done to us.

Those figures are what drives vendors to earn more. And they aren't even there anymore. It's outrageous. Perhaps other e-commerce providers don't put this unwanted restriction on vendors and allow them to see what they've made instead of hiding it behind a bunch of reports.

The changes are terrible

You guys have managed to ruin the functionality that is important to vendors.

While I can't speak for everyone, I do user interface design for a living for companies like Microsoft, Intel, Disney, ATI and many many others and i can tell you I'm not happy with these changes at all.

You've now taken our daily and monthly totals and put them up above everything else. Let's forget about how ugly the green box is since that's trivial. Let's talk about how we go about reading the page. We start from the top and work our way down. I have never seen a layout that takes the totals of a linear column page and stick on the top. As you scroll and read downwards your totals should be on the bottom. Last time you went to the store and looked at the sales receipt did they show up on top? No? Why is that? Because we naturally read a sales report from top down with the bottom tally showing up below the numbers. Just terrible.

On top of that you've taken away our lifetime product totals. Now if i want to see which products are bringing in the most revenue i have to wade through reports and calendars just to find the information that's important to me.

The idea of "improvements' is to "improve". All you've managed to do is take away or move important information to us and either stick it on top where it doesn't belong or make us hunt for it.

Whoever did the website revamp should be fired as they don't understand a single thing about ease-of-use.

While I'm at it...

I'd like to see the ability to see more sales instead of the last 10. An option of 10/20/50/100 in a preference setting or drop down would be nice. I don't mind scrolling down because if i have a new customer who's email ended up in the spam folder then all i would have to do is scroll down the page and grab their information instead of doing an order locate search. You can keep 10 by default but let us have the option of expanding.

Another thing... Reports. Why not let us pick and choose which report options show up by default. I don't use half of them you have set up on the first page. Instead i have to scroll through more reports and hunt down what i want. It would save me a ton of time to be able to set up which reports i want to see on the default report page. This way its one click to get to reports and then one click to launch a report. 2 clicks. As it stands now I have to click Reports then More Reports, then a drop down menu and then find the report. This is what i mean by your web designers not understanding ease-of-use. I have no problem with keeping things simple as long as it doesn't affect ease of use. All you're doing now is removing or moving important information and wasting more of my time when you should be helping me get the information i need as quickly as possible so i can sell more products and make you more money.
